Works with the printer you already have

Thermal receipt printers in Indian shops come in two common sizes and four common connections. PaisaBill supports all of them, so you rarely need to buy new hardware.

ConnectionWhere it worksGood for
Bluetooth (Classic and LE)AndroidPhone billing, portable printers, small counters
USBAndroid (OTG cable), Windows (installed printer)Fixed counters, fastest and most stable link
Wi-Fi or LAN, port 9100Android and WindowsKitchens, several devices sharing one printer
Windows printersWindowsAny printer with a Windows driver, including A4 printers
System print dialogWeb app and othersPrinting from a browser, saving PDF

On a network, PaisaBill can scan your Wi-Fi subnet for printers listening on port 9100, so you do not have to hunt for the IP address. Give the printer a fixed IP or a DHCP reservation in your router so it stays findable.

58mm or 80mm: both are supported

58mm (2-inch) rolls suit small counters and portable printers. 80mm (3-inch) rolls fit more columns, such as HSN, MRP and rate side by side, and are easier to read. PaisaBill sizes the layout to the paper you choose, and each of the 15 receipt templates works on both widths.

Need a full-page invoice? Choose one of the 6 A4 or A5 invoice templates and save or share it as a PDF, or print it on a regular office printer from Windows.

Image mode and text mode

Thermal printers understand ESC/POS commands, but their built-in fonts are basic. Most cannot print the ₹ symbol or Indian language scripts. PaisaBill offers two print modes per printer:

  • Image mode renders the whole bill as a picture. The ₹ sign, QR codes, bold totals and product names in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil or any other script print exactly as designed. This is the default for most shops.
  • Text mode sends plain ESC/POS text. It is very fast and works on the most basic printers, at the cost of the special characters.

Receipts that do more

  • UPI QR code with the bill amount and bill number, printed at the top or bottom.
  • GST details: GSTIN, HSN column, CGST and SGST breakup and amount in words.
  • Offer lines and savings so customers see what they saved.
  • Kitchen tickets (KOT) with item notes in standard, large-text or grouped layouts, plus token numbers.
  • Your footer: a thank-you note, return policy or phone number.

Pick from templates like Classic, Compact, Restaurant, Cafe, Retail/Kirana, QR first, Big font, Takeaway/Parcel, Bakery/Sweets and Salon/Service, then fine-tune font size, alignment, dividers and columns.

Setting up in two minutes

  1. Switch on the printer and load paper with the shiny side facing the print head.
  2. In PaisaBill, open Settings, then Printers, and add a printer.
  3. Pick the connection: Bluetooth, USB, network or Windows printer.

If a print comes out blank, garbled or cut off, the built-in troubleshooter and our thermal printer setup guide cover the usual fixes. Then download PaisaBill and print your first bill.

Questions shop owners ask

Which thermal printers work with PaisaBill?

Most ESC/POS receipt printers with 58mm or 80mm paper that connect over Bluetooth, USB (on Android), Wi-Fi or LAN, plus any printer installed in Windows. Add the printer in Settings, then Printers, and use the test print to confirm.

Why does the ₹ symbol print as a question mark?

Many printers have no rupee sign in their built-in fonts. Switch the printer to Image mode in PaisaBill. It sends the bill as a picture, so the ₹ sign, QR codes and Indian scripts print correctly.

Can I print a UPI QR code on the receipt?

Yes. Add your UPI ID and payee name in Tax and billing settings. PaisaBill prints a UPI QR with the bill amount at the top or bottom of the receipt.

Can I print kitchen tickets (KOT)?

Yes. Restaurants can print KOTs with item notes in three layouts: standard, large text and grouped by category.

Why does Android ask for location to find my Bluetooth printer?

On Android 11 and older, Android requires location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices. On Android 12 and newer, PaisaBill asks only for Nearby devices. PaisaBill does not read or store your location.
